The Boise Bookmark: October 2026

Hey, Boise book lovers! ๐Ÿ‘‹
ย
Spooky season is officially here, our TBRs are getting longer, and there's no shortage of bookish things happening around the Treasure Valley!
ย
This month's edition is extra special because we're still riding the high from our biggest Smuttastic Book Fair yet. We're also introducing you to a local author, sharing a bookstore you NEED to visit this fall, and giving you a peek at what's coming next.
ย
Grab your favorite fall drink, get cozy, and let's get into it.

๐Ÿ’Œ Boise, You Seriously Showed Up!
ย
We're still recovering (in the best way possible) from our TWO-DAY Smuttastic Book Fair at Mother Earth Brewing this past weekend!
ย
Over 4,000 of you came out to shop, meet authors, discover new books, support small businesses, and celebrate everything we love about this community.
ย
Our largest book fair yet. FOUR THOUSAND PLUS book lovers. We are genuinely blown away.
ย
More than anything, we're so grateful that you continue to show up, support our events, and give our little ideas a chance to become something so much bigger.
ย
To our incredible vendors, authors, volunteers, and every single person who attended: THANK YOU.
ย
We love getting to create spaces where readers can discover their next favorite story, meet people who share their interests, and feel like they belong.

๐Ÿค  Next Up: Cowgirl Christmas!
ย
You didn't think we'd leave you hanging until next year, did you?
ย
We're trading spooky season for a little holiday sparkle because our COWGIRL CHRISTMAS Smuttastic Book Fair is officially on the calendar!
ย
๐Ÿ“… December 5, 2026
๐Ÿ“ Mother Earth Brewing | Nampa, Idaho
๐Ÿ•› 12 PM โ€“ 7 PM
ย
Think Christmas shopping, romance books, incredible local vendors, festive outfits, and a whole lot of bookish fun.
ย
We're encouraging everyone to dress for the occasion, so break out those cowboy boots, holiday reds, sparkles, and western-inspired Christmas outfits!
ย
A little reminder:ย Our October book fair sold out of RSVP timeslots early, so we HIGHLY recommend reserving yours sooner rather than later.
ย

๐Ÿ–ค Local Author Spotlight: Nix Murguia
One of our favorite things about hosting book fairs is discovering talented authors right here in our own community!
ย
This month, we're excited to introduce you to Nix Murguia, who joined us for her very first Smuttastic Book Fair this past weekend!
ย
Nix is the author behind theย Calavera Hotelsย series, a dark romance series filled with complicated family legacies, secrets, privilege, and all the deliciously dark drama romance readers love.
ย
If you enjoy your romance on the darker side, with high stakes and plenty of intensity, you'll definitely want to check out her work.
ย
We're so excited she joined our bookish community and can't wait to see what's next for her!

๐Ÿš‹ Bookish Business Spotlight: Curbside Books
ย
Okay, but have you ever shopped for books inside an actual TROLLEY?!
ย
If you haven't experienced Curbside Books yet, consider this your official sign.
ย
This adorable mobile bookstore operates out of a renovated vintage trolley, affectionately named Trolley Parton (yes, that's really her name, and we're obsessed).
ย
Instead of having one permanent storefront, Curbside Books travels around the Treasure Valley, popping up at local coffee shops, markets, breweries, and community events.
And honestly? Fall might just be the PERFECT season to plan a visit.
ย
Imagine grabbing your favorite cozy drink, wandering through a trolley full of books, and finding your next favorite read. It doesn't get much cuter than that.
ย
They even have fun bookish events and pop-ups throughout the month!

๐Ÿ“… Around the Bookshelves: What's Happening in Boise?
We love sharing the spotlight with other local businesses and organizations bringing readers together!
ย

โœจ To the Stars Who Listen...
ACOTAR FANS, THIS IS NOT A DRILL.
ย
After all the waiting, theories, rereads, and debates about our favorite characters, we're finally getting another visit to Prythian!
ย
Sarah J. Maas's sixthย A Court of Thorns and Rosesย book,ย A Court of Splintered Harmony, is set to release onย October 27!
ย
And we have approximately a million questions.
ย
Are you doing a full-series reread before release day? Avoiding every possible spoiler? Already preparing to abandon your responsibilities the second your copy arrives?
Because honestly, same.
ย
October's Bookish Question:
Who are you most excited to read about in ACOTAR 6?
Reply to this email and tell us your predictions. We want ALL the theories. ๐Ÿ‘€

Have Something Bookish to Share?
ย
The Boise Bookmark is all about keeping our local reading community connected, and we want YOU to be part of it!
ย
Are you a local author with a new release? A bookstore hosting a fun event? A small business organizing something bookish? Or maybe you know about a community event our readers would love?
We'd love to hear about it!
ย
We're always looking for:
Local authors and new book releases
Book clubs, signings, and literary events
Independent bookstores and bookish businesses
Creative workshops and community gatherings
Other exciting news from the Treasure Valley reading community
Reply to this email with your name or business, event or announcement details, relevant dates, a website or registration link, and any photos you'd like us to consider.
ย
Submissions are welcome from across Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, and the surrounding Treasure Valley!
ย
Features are selected based on relevance and available space. Sharing an event does not mean it is hosted or sponsored by The Vibrant Book Club.
Currently in my cozy girl era, which means oversized hoodies, hot coffee (iced coffee season is officially over for me), and finding any excuse to go on a fall walk with an audiobook. ๐Ÿ
ย
๐ŸŽงย Currently Listening To:ย Threshing Dayย on Audible! I've been LOVING getting outside for walks while listening to a good book. Something about the crisp fall air and getting lost in a story just hits different.
ย
โ˜•ย Current Obsession:ย HOT coffee. I know, groundbreaking. But there's something about holding a warm coffee while wearing an oversized hoodie that makes me feel like I have my life together.
ย
๐Ÿ‚ย Favorite Fall Activity:ย Long walks, cozy clothes, and soaking up the last of the nice weather before winter officially arrives.
ย
๐Ÿ’šย Life Lately:ย Still recovering from our biggest Smuttastic Book Fair EVER! Getting to see over 4,000 readers show up this past weekend was genuinely surreal. Sometimes I get so caught up in the behind-the-scenes chaos that I forget to stop and appreciate how cool it is that we get to do this.
ย
๐Ÿ“šย Looking Forward To:ย More cozy reading days, the ACOTAR release, and all the fun things we have planned for the rest of the year!
ย
My little reminder this month:ย Life gets busy, but don't forget to romanticize the small things. Take the walk. Buy the coffee. Read the book. Wear the comfy hoodie.ย
ย
Thank you for being part of this community and helping us keep Boise bookish.
ย
Every time you attend an event, shop from a local author, support an indie bookstore, or invite a friend to something bookish, you're helping build a stronger, more connected community of readers.
ย
And that's what this is all about. Happy reading & happy spooky season!
